The Room, Hole, and Rim

the gloom hangs over everything
a heaviness as the eyes awake
a weight at dusk

the hole in our living room
is gaping
we fall in
climb out
with cuts and bruises
our spirits broken
and shaken

fall in again
pull each other out
with strong hands
that get limp

in time we'll learn
to walk the rim

but now
the room, hole, and rim
all fade into one another

falling is inevitable

I was so touched by this poem and the immense pain that it conveys. We pray each and everyday that God grant us all the strength and courage. We miss our dear Anuj so greatly. I thought of what Helen Keller once wrote when she said “Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light.” That light is Anuj and I know his glory will forever shine upon us all.
love,
Meena
