With Us on Every Holiday

As this Thanksgiving weekend comes to an end, we'd like to share a photograph from last year's festivities. It would be Anuj's last Thanksgiving with us. He was back in the Bay Area from Philadelphia for a few days. Given his very busy schedule, Anuj didn't lead the kitchen activities. Instead he supervised Kapil as he tried to cook up a few of Anuj's specialties. We've already talked about what an incredibly gifted teacher Anuj was and this time was no exception. Under his watchful eye, and easy-going yet insightful guidance, Kapil produced a delicious meal for everyone.

The reason why these photographs went from a few quick digital snapshots to cherished treasures in a few months leaves a cratering hollow in our chests. However we believe that by teaching us how to cook instead of doing it himself on his last Thanksgiving, Anuj made sure that a part of him will always be with us on this holiday.

Such a loss is incomprehensible, and for those of us who haven't experienced anything like it, it's all the more difficult to find the right things to say. I can only tell you that Anuj sounds like a magnificent person, and I'm really sorry that I didn't know him better. But by sharing his actions, wisdom, and values, you bring him alive everyday. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Anuj,
It was the first time that I missed a friend so hard. Anuj shines in terms of brilliance,
humility, strong drive and character. It is so hard to imagine the world without him.
I will always cherish the momets I spent with you.
I am going to miss you buddy

Anuj will be with us always. I want to believe that he is in everything beautiful around us--the pinkish purple sky when the sun sets in winter, the evergreen trees that stand tall while maples and others shed leaves during the fall, the blossom of tulips in spring, the long hours of warmth and sunlight in the summer months. In everything. In every season. With us, always.
