A Day of Rememberance

May 6, 2007, marks a bitter sweet day for us. While the news of Anuj being honored with a posthumous (MBA) degree from Wharton is being appreciated as a great honor, it also reminds of us of the day one year ago when Anuj landed in the bay area after having completed his first year at business school. The memories of that day come rushing back; his loving smile, his joy and enthusiasm and his stories of friends and experiences from the past year all fill our hearts and eyes with tears.

As soon as we learned last week, from the Director of Student Life, MBA Program Office, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, about the approval from the Provost's Office to honor Anuj with a Posthumous degree (MBA), suddenly all the back memories coming back to me.

It was morning of May 6th 2006. Exactly 1 year from today, Anuj called me, from Philadelphia. Mom I am coming home today for the summer, & I will start my Internship after couple of week with the investment bank Credit Suisse.

He was so happy & filled with lot of enthusiasm.
But I never knew that after coming home on last May he will never go back to Wharton.
With lots of tear in our eyes but little smiles on our face I want to mention that this
Posthumous Degree ( MBA ) at Graduation to honor our beloved Anuj will certainly help to lift the spirits of our family.

We miss you and love you.

Our beloved Anuj continues to inspire us in so many ways. How so very proud we are of him today. His legacy will continue on through his scholarship and provide the opportunity for other students to fufill this same great achievement. Our dearest Anuj continues to do what he always so selflessly did - help others in any way he possibly could.

With love,
Ruby, Shamir, Raina, and Ria

It was exactly a year ago when I bumped into Andy on my graduation day, in between all the chaos. He was wearing his signature orange cap, his favorite blue shirt and fleece jacket and all he said to me was that he was proud of me and that he would be waiting for me after I am done with the ceremony.

On the same day, Dad wearing his new pink shirt and his favorite sweater, was so excited to see the civil engineering department, which co-incidentally was right next to the my economics department.

That evening at dinner amid all my friends and their family, I thanked them both for all the support and love they had given me all throughout my life, and that they were the main reasons, I could proudly say that I graduated from USC.

Please don’t ever take that hand of love and support away from my head. Miss you lots!

I just read about Anuj's posthumous degree, a great honor. The following flashed across my mind...

flower fully bloomed
in haste
petals dropped prematurely
spreading fragrance
